DE PERE, Wis. (WFRV) – The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is moving forward with plans to improve a busy stretch of WIS 32 through downtown De Pere.
On Monday, residents had the chance to learn more and share feedback during a public involvement meeting at West De Pere Middle School. The meeting focused on proposed upgrades to Main Avenue and Reid Street between Third and Eighth Streets.
The project aims to replace deteriorated pavement, sidewalks, and storm sewer drains while making the area safer and more accessible.

“We’re gonna have enhanced bike lanes downtown and we’re going to enhance the ADA and include some of those with that so that the parking lanes and the terraces downtown will be reshaped. We looked at the typical section or the cross section of the roadway and made some changes there so it will be minor changes,” said Joshua Lang, WisDOT Northeast Region Project Manager.
Utility work is expected to begin in 2027, with major construction scheduled for 2028. Traffic closures and detours are anticipated during the project.
Residents who couldn’t attend the meeting can learn more or provide feedback by visiting WisDOT’s WIS 32 project page.
